CHARACTER RIGGING

 
Characters are very important part of animation.
To animate a character the model has to be precise in order for rigging artist to perform his duties. Rigging a character is interesting technical part of animation.
 
Here's a simple character rig demonstration...
 
 
This is the character i'm rigging.
 
 
Starting with the legs gives an idea of how the whole rig would be.
 
STEPS TO RIG -
1. Joints are setup starting from hip to knee - ankle and toes and are properly renamed.
2. Ik handles are used to get the movement and rotation of the ankle, foot, toes and knees. The orientation of the joints is checked to insure proper rotation.
3. A control is created for the foot which is light blue in colour(see image). An extra control is created for the movement of the knee which is dark blue in colour.
 
I feel we can start Rigging with the spine.
 
 
4. The same is then mirrored to the right leg and renamed accordingly to user convenience.
This was a whole new experience in Rigging since it involved new techniques.
 
 
The foot control consists of 4 extra attributes which are ankle pvt(pivot), toe pvt, ankle roll(rotation), toe roll. (You can see these on the right side of the image high-lightened in blue colour).
 
The rig is in progress and will be Updated as its done
