WALK CYCLE

 
This is my first walk cycle in 3d. It was done in maya 2014
 
 
Walk cycle follows basic 12 principle of animation. These 12 principles help an animator visualise and bring the character to life.
 
 
The above given image was the reference I used to animate the walk.
 
Steps involved in animating a walk -
 
1.The key frames are set with animation preference in step mode.
2.Inbetween's are added after the main keys with linear mode in animation preferences.
3.Graph editor is used to tweak the tangents to give weight and flexibility to the character.
 
 
Here's a view at the graph editor. I have only selected the foot control and rotate attribute. Basically the graph editor will look unclear with all the tangents.
 
Tweaking the tangents for walk cycle was a new experience. Animating a walk was pretty fun and exciting. I learned a lot about graph editor.
